Hiring Process

Clay County Sheriff's Office Hiring Process

An applicant must complete several steps before a provisional offer of employment is made:

  • Application
  • Oral board
  • Background investigation
  • Pre-employment drug screen and fingerprints
  • Computer Voice Stress Analysis (CVSA)
  • Psychiatrist evaluation

A thorough background investigation is completed for each candidate who passes through an oral board interview. The background investigation consists of, but is not limited to, contacting current and past employers, personal references, neighborhood canvass, and criminal history.
