Sheriff Akin presented dozens of Sheriff’s Office members with awards for heroism, compassion and investigation at an award ceremony last night.
The ceremony took place at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, in the auditorium of New Mark Middle School, 515 NE 108th St., Kansas City, Mo. It was in conjunction with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy Graduation.
Deputies were honored for safely arresting an armed carjacking suspect, rescuing a woman held captive by her husband, saving the life of a suicidal man and more. A large group also received recognition for their work on an operation during the NFL Draft that led to the arrest and prosecution of four men seeking to have sex with children.
