Nearly 50 law enforcement officers arrested eight people who had felony warrants today in an operation led by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
The warrants cleared ranged from sodomy to terrorist threats.
“We wanted to make a concerted effort to locate and arrest those who are a risk to public safety in Clay County and have been evading justice,” Sheriff Will Akin said.
A total of 48 deputies, officers and troopers from 11 different law enforcement agencies worked to track down and arrest the eight wanted individuals the morning and early afternoon of March 4. The team cleared an additional warrant by discovering the suspect was deceased.
The Sheriff’s Office allocated additional transportation and detention staff to manage the influx of arrests.
In addition to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the following agencies participated:
Claycomo Police Department
Gladstone Police Department
Kearney Police Department
Liberty Police Department
Excelsior Springs Police Department
