The victim is identified as 53-year-old Gildardo H. Carvajal of Gardner, Kan.
UPDATE 2, DEC. 28:
Charges have been filed against a woman who is the suspect in the homicide of a man whose body was located at Rocky Hollow Park on Dec. 22. The suspect is not in custody, and we need the public’s help to locate her.
Elena Delcarmen Flores, 48, has been charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action and abandonment of a corpse. Her photo is attached. She lives in Gardner, Kan., but we believe she may no longer be in the metro area.
She may also use the names Elena Torres, Elena Flores Garcia or Elena Stores. She is 5’5 and approximately 200 pounds. If you know where she is, please call our investigators at 816-407-3723 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
UPDATE, DEC. 28: We have now identified the victim in this case. We are still trying to locate next-of-kin and will release his identify when that is completed.
ORIGINAL, DEC. 22:
The Clay County Sheriff's Office is conducting a homicide investigation after the discovery of a body at Rocky Hollow Park the morning of Dec. 22.
A County parks employee found the body at about 8:15 a.m. off a roadway at the park, located at 14812 Old Quarry Road, Excelsior Springs, Mo.
The victim remains unidentified. He appears to be a white or Hispanic man between the approximate ages of 35 and 45 years old. Evidence indicates the body was placed at the location recently.
The victim has a bull tattoo on his upper left arm. We ask anyone who has any information about this case to call investigators at 816-407-3723 or the TIPS Hotline.
